Judge Jennifer Barron studied Latin at the University of Chicago and received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Classical Studies. She obtained her Law Degree from George Washington University in Washington DC and was admitted to practice in the State of Illinois and before the Northern District of Illinois.

Prior to becoming a Judge, Barron was an experienced attorney with an impressive record representing clients in civil litigation both at trial and on appeal. She practiced law in Naperville and Chicago. In addition to trying cases in Cook County, she argued appeals before the Northern District of Illinois and the Seventh Circuit Court of Appeals.
Judge Barron has long been an engaged member of the legal community. She has served on the Executive Board of the Women’s Bar Association of Illinois (WBAI), and is a recipient of the WBAI Service Award. She served as an active member of the Illinois Trial Lawyers’ Association Women’s Caucus. She has written for legal publications and most recently had her work appear in the Trial Journal Magazine.

Judge Barron has also been a longstanding advocate for the underserved and disadvantaged. Early in her career, she tutored children housed at the Cook County juvenile detention center in Chicago and was an honoree for National Volunteer Recognition Week. More recently, she volunteered her services with Prairie State Legal Services, a local organization providing legal assistance to the indigent. She has received recognition for this work and was named as an Outstanding Volunteer in 2017 from the West Suburban Philanthropic Network. She has also done pro bono legal work for the Giffords Law Center which works to address gun violence.
Judge Barron has deep roots in the Naperville/Aurora community. She has lived in Naperville for over 20 years and raised her children along with her husband Dr. Jerome Hong, a physician. Judge Barron served as PTA President at both Owen Elementary and Still Middle School in the IPSD 204 School District. She was also elected to serve on the Indian Prairie Parents Council (IPPC) Board as both a Vice President and as Legislative Chair.


Judge Barron volunteered as a t-ball coach and soccer coach for both boys and girls teams for several years with the Wheatland Athletic Association (WAA). Judge Barron and her husband are long time backers of the Northern Illinois Food Bank. She is also a supporter of the West Suburban Humane Society. Her family adopted both of their beloved dogs, Maddie (RIP) and Hector from the Society.

Well qualified as both an attorney and a community leader to sit on the bench in DuPage County, Judge Barron brings approachability and integrity to our local judiciary. She is firmly committed to ensuring equal justice for all in our community.
